The Clarity Water pump wad developed to reduce the filtration time by 10x of the Kohler Clarity (a gravity fed filtrations system for natural disaster relief). This pump went through several iterations (the last three seen below) to provide a compact, reliable, and easy to use solution. All iterations were FDM printed with the final prototype including a machined internal piston casing to reduce friction and increase the reliability of the seal. Several different lever mechanisms were tried to understand what was most practical for human movement. The final design (Right figure) settled on a collapsible handle with a single pivoting member that connects the handle and piston.
